Fun Shopping !

Dad and I went looking for an elastic wrap for his sore foot. We went to a local pharmacy. On the top of the counter was jars full of herbs.

On the tray was herbs from several jars and drawers from the chest behind the counter. A customer had just come and the pharmacist had mixed a combination for him in the tray on the counter. Another customer was sitting on a stool while they were applying pressure to his neck and temple.

I thought Dr. Drew could tell us all about this 'alternative medicine technique.' Oh, we did get an elastic wrap back in a corner on a lower shelf. All is well!

I have been in several jewelry markets. A building has several floors all filled with beads, bangles, and sparkles. There are shops around the outer edge of each floor. That have beautifully finished necklaces, bracelets, etc.

The center of each floor has booths filled with some finished jewelry, but mostly long strands of beads, etc. They will make anything you want while you wait. Girls ... come for a visit. We will have a BLAST!

Our First Days in Beijing

Our flight to China was great. Business class seating made us feel very special. Our driver, Mr. Huang and his friend met us at the airport. We had 8 large suitcases. It took 2 luggage trollies and 2 cars to get us to the Hotel Hilton.

Our room was beautiful, especially the bathroom. It had 'plush' everything, even our own bathrobes and slippers. We ate in the executive lounge for breakfast and usually for dinner.

Occasionally we went out to dinner with friends that we are making from the office and from church. There are fabulous resturants in Beijing, from all price ranges. German, Italian, Thai, French, Belgian, Subway, Pizza Hut ( that also serves chinese dishes), Chinese food from the different provinces, Indian... Dad has also had many dinners to attend with Chinese people from the airlines or related business.

We are very grateful to be here in Beijing. We are excited to learn the Chinese language, enjoy the culture with its many sights, and make many friends.
