US Embassy Marine Military Ball

On Saturday, Nov. 9, dad and I attended the US Embassy sponsored Marine Ball. It is an annual event to celebrate the Marines birthday. This year it was held at the Great Wall Sheraton Hotel. We were invited by a member of the US embassy staff who works in the communication department. He and his wife are also members of our branch.

It started with the usual posting of the colors by the Marine color guard, then the playing of the national anthem. It was a touching remembrance of when we were in the military and all the patriotic ceremonies we attended. There were presentations and speeches made by the US embassy ambassador and the area brig. general. It was impressive. Then we ate a delicious prime rib dinner. Our hosts had also invited 3 other couples from the church. I think we were the only table that had oj instead of wine.

The chocolate mousse, for desert, was fabulous.

This is a picture of the Chinese lady that made dad's tux and my jacket. She has a small shop with 2=3 tailors. She is so good and fast. I ordered my jacket on Monday, had it fitted on Wednesday, picked it up on Friday, and wore it Saturday!

The finished product ..... aren't you proud! Such a handsome couple!!
